Mexican Burger from Wolfgang’s Steakhouse

May is National Burger Month—and to make sure you celebrate, Miami’s best restaurants are whipping up a few mouthwatering burgers you can’t help but crave. From now through May 31, head to the three restaurants listed below and try one for yourself.

Wolfgang’s Steakhouse

In addition to its Classic Burger, Wolfgang’s Steakhouse {315 South Biscayne Boulevard, Downtown Miami; 305.487.7130} will offer two special burgers during the month of May: the Italian Burger with pesto sauce, tomatoes, onions, and a meat patty on a brioche bun, and the Mexican Burger with guacamole, American cheese, and a meat patty. As an added bonus, both burgers are served with truffle fries. Each burger is priced at $14.99.

CORSAIR kitchen & bar

Throughout the month of May, the American-inspired CORSAIR kitchen & bar {19999 West Country Club Drive, Aventura; 786.279.6800} will debut one special burger each week. From May 13 to May 19, try the Bison Burger with BBQ aioli, onion rings, sharp cheddar cheese, bibb lettuce, tomato, and onion. From May 20 to May 26, get the Beef Burger with basil mayo, gruyere cheese, arugula, tomato, and onion bacon jam. Each burger is priced at $21.

Pizza & Burger by Michael Mina

If you’re looking for good comfort food on Miami Beach, look no further than Pizza & Burger by Michael Mina {4441 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach; 305.674.4636}, at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach. This May, it will debut four special celebrity burgers—one from Chef Michael Mina, one from Flo-Rida, one from three-time, Emmy Award-winning Chef James Tahhan, and one from DJ IRIE. From May 14 to May 19, get Chef Tahhan’s The James burger, which tops an 8-ounce, dry-aged patty with queso fresco, guasacaca sauce, lettuce, heirloom tomatoes, roasted poblanos, and a fried egg on a brioche bun. From May 21 to May 31, get DJ IRIE’s The IRIE burger with crispy chicken, jalapeño and green chili cheese sauce, fresh guacamole, lettuce, and tomatoes. Each burger is priced at $25. Both burgers are charitable; 15% of proceeds from The James will benefit St. Jude Children’s Hospital, and 15% of proceeds from The IRIE will benefit the Irie Foundation.

Stephen’s Deli: In operation since 1954, Stephen’s Delicatessen is Miami’s oldest and only New York-style deli. Matt Kuscher, of KUSH, took it over in 2017 and made a variation of that, Stephen’s Deli, his second locale in Time Out Market Miami.

Giorgio Rapicavoli: James Beard Award semifinalist, Giorgio Rapicavoli, has opened another location of his popular Coral Gables restaurant, Eating House, in Time Out Market. This version will have restaurant favorites and an exclusive dish the original does not—Rigatoni Al Pesto.

Time Out Market Miami is located at 1601 Drexel Avenue. It is open Sunday through Thursday, from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., and on Friday and Saturday, from 8 a.m. to Midnight. Time Out Market opened its first location in Lisbon in 2014, and is opening additional locations in New York, Boston, Chicago, Montreal, Dubai, London-Waterloo, and Prague in 2019 and beyond.

Get a taste of Portugal, right at home

Bacalhau de Gomes de Sa from Old Lisbon

serves six

Ingredients

2 lbs salted cod
2 lbs potatoes, peeled and sliced 1/2-inch thick
2 c milk
3 onions, sliced
3 cloves garlic, crushed
4 hard-boiled eggs, sliced or quartered
1/2 c olive oil
20 black olives
1 bunch parsley, chopped
salt, to taste
pepper, to taste

Method

In a bowl of water, soak cod for 24-36 hours, changing water every eight hours. Once cod is desalted, remove bones and shred the fish into small pieces. In a pot, bring milk to a boil and turn off heat. Place cod pieces in hot milk for one or two hours.

In a pot of boiling water, add potato slices and cook for 25 minutes. Remove and season with salt and pepper. In a hot skillet, add a splash of olive oil. Add onions and sauté for five or ten minutes. Add garlic and continue cooking for two minutes.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In a casserole dish, drizzle 1/4 cup olive oil. Add layers of potatoes, drained cod, and sautéed vegetables. Season with salt and pepper, to taste. Drizzle another 1/4 cup olive oil on top, then bake for 40 minutes.

To serve: Garnish with hard-boiled eggs, parsley, and black olives.

During these exclusive dinners, guests can enjoy the world’s most prestigious wines paired with the award-winning cuisine of Fontainebleau Miami Beach’s signature restaurants. This Tuesday, at 7 p.m., head to Hakkasan {4441 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach; 786.276.1388} for a multi-course dinner paired with Lingua Franca Wines, from Oregon. This event will be led by Master Sommelier Larry Stone. Tickets are priced at $200 per person.

This Thursday, at 7 p.m., Faena Hotel Miami Beach’s “Fire Dome Series” with Chef Francis Mallmann will continue with a special vegan and vegetarian feast. During this dazzling event, which will take place at Los Fuegos by Francis Mallmann {3201 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach; 786.655.5610}, Chef Mallmann himself will prepare a range of locally-sourced produce over his signature six-foot, iron-grilling dome. Guests of this intimate experience will enjoy live music and a buffet-style dinner under the stars, right in front of Damien Hirst’s famous golden mammoth statue. This event will include small bites, a buffet dinner, and Faena Wine pairings. This dinner is priced at $195 per person.

It all happens on May 15

Craving a trip to southern France? (Why wouldn’t you be?) Well, now Miami diners don’t need to look any further than Downtown Miami. Boulud Sud {255 Biscayne Boulevard Way, Downtown Miami; 305.421.8800}, chef and restaurateur Daniel Boulud’s coastal-Mediterranean restaurant inside the JW Marriott Marquis, will host a “Southern France Wine Dinner” that will take Miami foodies on a culinary journey of the coveted region. Beginning at 7 p.m., on Wednesday, May 15, the fantastic evening will begin with a glass of Commanderie de Payrassol Rosé de Provence in the bar and lounge, and move on to a three-course dinner in the Salon De Provence that your taste buds won’t be able to forget.

Making the night even more special, the event will be led by a triple threat: Head Sommelier Daniel Chaviano, Executive Chef Clark Bowen, and Pastry Chef Saeko Nemoto Guest, all of Boulud Sud Miami. Guests will be able to experience a three-course dinner, all paired with hand-selected wines that showcase the best southern France. On the menu, diners can also expect to find regional specialties of the destination, like Brandade De Morue, Tuna Crudo A La Provencale, Spring Roasted Lamb Saddle, and Provencal Pagne De Basket. To accompany these tasty dishes, Chaviano will be pouring glasses of Domaine du Bagnol Cassis Blanc 2017; Mas Cal Demoura, Terre de Jonquières; Terrasses du Larzac, 2015; and Domaine de Fenouillet Muscat Beaumes de Venise 2017/18. An Indian Feast at Maska

And this Mother’s Day, its Michelin-star chef, Chef Hemant Mathur, is inviting all families to celebrate with a Sunday brunch! There will be live stations with South Indian curry, biryani, tandoor, eggs, desserts, and more, along with a DJ and live tabla percussionist. For a real treat, mix Chef Mathur’s tandoor kitchen flavors with bottomless drinks, like the restaurant’s signature cocktails or bottles of Prosecco. This brunch is priced at $55 per adult and $40 per child, excluding tax and gratuity.

A Day in Italy at Market at EDITION
Sunday, May 12 from Noon to 8 p.m.

A Cinco de Mayo cocktail from Kiki on the River

Cinco de Mayo is this weekend! Looking for a festive drink for the occasion? Try the Casa Picante from Kiki on the River {450 NW North River Drive, Miami; 786.502.3243}. We’ve got the recipe, below!

Here’s how it’s made:

Mix 1 1/2 ounces Don Julio Blanco, 1/2 ounce Pamplemousse liqueur, 1/2 ounce mango habañero hot sauce, 1 ounce lime juice, and 1/2 ounce guava purée in a shaker. Shake and strain into a rocks glass with crushed ice. Garnish with 4 cilantro sprigs and a dehydrated lime wheel.
