“Steak & Egg” Béarnaise at Lobster Bar Sea Grille

Looking for something to eat or drink on Miami Beach? Read below to find out our favorite spots to curb every craving.
For breakfast: Lolo’s Surf Cantina
Located in the Marriott Stanton South Beach, this Baja-inspired, indoor-outdoor haunt boasts some of the best Mexican fare in town. Go every morning, between 6:30 a.m. and 11 a.m., and you can chow down on breakfast plates like Huevos Rancheros with layered with sunny-side-up eggs and salsa, Butterscotch Pancakes garnished with caramelized banana and maple pecans, and Melbourne Avocado Toast topped with guacamole and a poached egg.
161 Ocean Drive, Miami Beach; 305.735.6973
For a morning meeting over coffee: Dolce Italian
You might know this cozy Italian restaurant from being a top contender on Bravo’s TV show Best New Restaurant, or you might just know it because it’s been a Miami staple since 2012. Either way, Dolce Italian is a solid spot for all-day Italian fare, great ambience, and beautiful Collins Avenue people-watching. Grab a table outside mid-morning, and make your business deals over classic coffee drinks and Italian pastries. It’s open from 7:30 a.m. until late, too; so we won’t judge you if those South Beach vibes convince you to “extend” that meeting and call it a day.
1690 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach; 786.975.2550
For a great brunch deal: Lobster Bar Sea Grille
There’s no doubt about it—this is the best brunch deal in town. For just $49, get bottomless mimosas, bellinis, prosecco, and Bloody Marys, and a three-course meal with entrées like Whole Butter-Braised Lobster Benedict, “Steak & Egg” Béarnaise, and more. The whole feast starts with seven appetizer options (like Fresh Apple Kale Salad or $5 “Carl’s Specialty” Raspberry Croissants with house-made jam and Nutella), and ends with dessert. We suggest the Classic Profiteroles smothered in dark chocolate sauce and served with vanilla ice cream and sugar-roasted almonds. We also suggested staying there all afternoon, 1) because you’re in SoFi and 2) because brunch runs from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday.
404 Washington Avenue, Miami Beach; 305.438.9200
For lunch: Spris Artisan Pizza
This is where you go for authentic Italian pizza; and with a spot right on European-style Lincoln Road, you might even feel like you’re in Italy while you eat it, too. The pizza list here goes for miles, so if you need help combing through it, stick to two of our favorites: the Mediterranea with goat cheese, olives, sundried tomatoes, artichokes, and genoa pesto, or the Saporita with Italian spicy salami, gorgonzola, capers, olives, and garlic.
731 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach; 305.673.2020
For that post-work drink: Lido Bayside Grille
This Mediterranean restaurant at The Standard Spa, Miami Beach makes you feel good just by walking in. Fusing the traditional Mediterranean diet and lifestyle with incredible views over Biscayne Bay, there’s no place you’d rather be for a drink during sunset. Lucky for you, Lido Bayside Grille has a “High Tides Happy Hour” Monday through Friday, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., with $2 Oysters, $5 Boris’ Chicken Empanadas, and even $8 Artichoke Frites. Wash it all down with the $9 “Zirkova Cocktail for a Cause”—a Lido Lemonade—and you’ll get to sip on a charitable drink that does as much good as it makes you feel.
40 Island Avenue, Miami Beach; 786.245.0880
For a really tasty Asian dinner: AZABU Miami Beach
AZABU Miami Beach is South of Fifth’s newest stop for classic, delicious Japanese cuisine, all from renowned Chef Masatsugu “Masa” Kubo! Another Marriott Stanton South Beach gem, this swank spot has indoor-outdoor dining, as well as a hidden sushi counter called “The Den” and Bar AZABU, a classic-style cocktail bar where spirits lovers can revel in rare Japanese sakes and whiskies. When you go, it’ll be hard to pick what to order (mostly because it all looks good). We suggest the Avo-Uni, American Wagyu Filet Mignon, or the Spicy Tuna Maki Sushi Roll. They’ll all keep calling you back for more.
161 Ocean Drive, Miami Beach; 786.276.0520
For late-night drinks: Hosteria Romana
With a slogan like “Where Italians go for Italian,” you know this place is going to be good. Sitting on Española Way, go here when you don’t want the night to end after dinner. It’s open until 1 a.m., and has every kind of drink you can imagine. Of its nearly 20 martinis on the menu, we recommend the Basil Lemontini! Perfectly Italian, with a little Miami twist, it’s made with lemon gelato, Citron vodka, and fresh lemon and basil.

If you consider yourself a wine connoisseur, then the name Gérard Bertrand ought to ring a bell. Gérard Bertrand is a world-renowned winemaker from the South of France who produces an outstanding diversity of wines that span over 14 total estates. From sparkling to appellation wines, reds to whites and rosés, Gérard Bertrand truly offers it all (and offers it exceptionally well). Headquartered in Languedoc-Roussillon—the world’s largest wine-making region—Gérard Bertrand wines are synonymous with excellence, authenticity, conviviality, and innovation. Bertrand and his teams are true leaders and visionaries in the winemaking industry.
Quality is Key
Quality not quantity. We’ve all heard this saying at least once in our lifetime. It’s a reminder that often leaves the lips of parents, teachers, and colleagues. Bertrand truly takes this sentiment to heart when approaching his wine business. Quality wine is, as Bertrand says, a combination of time, space, energy, spirit, and soul. Quality wine is also tied to a grape’s origin and how it harmonizes with the rest of the universe. Bertrand utilizes biodynamic farming to ensure top-notch, quality product from grape to bottle. With over 14 of Gérard Bertrand estates now Certified Biodynamic® by DEMETER or in the process of becoming certified, a more adequate phrase for the brand itself is quality and quantity.
Biodynamics
…is the gold standard of farming that heals the planet through conscious agriculture. A biodynamic farmer is a steward for his or her environment. There is absolutely no GMO’s, artificial fertilizers, or chemical sprays used on a biodynamic farm. What is used is a combination of ancient wisdom coupled with holistic, sustainable methods. Because Bertrand is an advocate of homeopathic medicine, employing biodynamics in his vineyards was a no-brainer. His winemaking process follows lunar and star charts—known as ‘the planting calendar’—which informs a farmer of the most optimal days for sowing, pruning, and harvesting. Some consider this kind of agriculture as a bunch of New Age hocus pocus. For Bertrand, it’s an unwavering commitment to sustainable development that, in turn, restores harmony to the environment and gives patrons the best and most authentic wine on the market. “The application of [biodynamic principles] makes the influence of the Earth and the heavens impossible to ignore—and this extends not just to making but to tasting wine,” Bertrand says in his autobiography “Wine, Moon and Stars.”

A Biodynamic Beauty: La Villa
La Villa, one of the best (and biodynamic) rosés in the world, stems from Bertrand’s Château la Sauvageonne estate. This region is characterized by its volcanic pastime. The soil consists of three types of rock: sandstone, schist and ‘ruffle.’ One sip leaves a velvety blanket over the tongue with refreshing aftertaste. It’s a harmonious marriage of flavors, including sweet strawberries and spices with floral notes of violet and hawthorn. As a light-bodied wine, La Villa is best served cool as an aperitif or paired with charcuterie and grilled meats. It’s faint blush color mirrors the way the sky looks when the grapes are handpicked, between sunrise and 10am.

The Bar at The Setai, Miami Beach {2001 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach; 305.520.6000} has a few cocktails you can’t forget—and the Chili Passion Martini is one of them. Striking the perfect balance between sweet and spicy, this sipper with a kick is the perfect way to start or end your night. And lucky for you, we have the recipe right here!
Here’s how it’s made:
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add two ounces light rum, one ounce each of passion fruit nectar, cranberry juice and orange juice, a half ounce simple syrup, 1/4 teaspoon bottled ginger juice, and seeds from a fresh red chili. Shake well. Strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with a sliver of the remaining red chili. Enjoy!

We’ve already told you the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB)’s Miami Spice Restaurant Program is coming back this August—but what you might not know is that you can get a taste of it as early as this month. On Thursday, June 28, Chef Michael Beltran of Ariete, Chef Diego Oka of La Mar by Gaston Acurio {500 Brickell Key Drive, Brickell; 305.913.8358}, and Chef Patrick Ochs of The Strand Bar & Grill {6801 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach; 305.514.7474} will team up for an unforgettable Miami Spice preview.
The one-night-only dining experience will take place by the ocean at The Strand Bar & Grill. Priced at just $75 per person, every diner will get a three-course meal (just like they will during Miami Spice!), but this time, the food on their plates will be a culinary fusion of all three Miami chefs’ distinct, beloved styles. Whatever you eat will be more than good-for-you-good, too. All three chefs have been approved by the Slow Food Miami Program, which recognizes local businesses that maintain good, clean, and fair standards, and those that pride themselves on having quality, authentic, and sustainably-minded food practices.
Want to wash it all down with a drink? Your Miami Spice sponsors have you covered. Complimentary pours of Chandon California, Fiji Water, Terrazas de los Andes, and Stella Artois are included in the price of dinner, and a menu of other beverages will be available for purchase.
This dinner will begin promptly at 7 p.m. Seating is limited. Reservations are required and can be made here. For more information about the Miami Spice Restaurant Program, visit www.iLoveMiamiSpice.com.

Lincoln Road has been a Miami Beach hotspot since it was first paved in the 1920s, heralded for its top-notch people watching and, with its lines of restaurants spilling out onto the streets, distinctly European feel. And when Quattro Gastronomia Italiana {1014 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach; 305.531.4833} joined the scene in 2006, it brought a real taste of Italy to this Miami slice of European paradise.
Next time you’re craving some good ol’ Italian cuisine, grab a seat inside or on the promenade and let the team at Quattro wine and dine you until you’re full and happy. Considering the culinary team comes straight from northern Italy and the wine list is made up of 300+ bottles—all covering the different regions of Italy—that shouldn’t be too hard.
Because we love this spot so much, we sat down with Roberto Sanso, Partner and General Manager of Quattro Gastronomia Italiana, to find out just what makes this Italian mainstay so special. Here’s what he had to say:
Tell us about Quattro. What makes it stand out from other Italian restaurants in Miami?
It stands out for consistency. We’ve been open for 12 years, which in Miami, is almost a record! We don’t want people to just be impressed with the décor and the DJ. We want people to come and eat a good meal and leave feeling like “that’s what an Italian meal is,” without having to travel for 11 hours. So many restaurants here focus on the parties or how everything looks. We want the food to be the main experience; we believe when you go to a restaurant, the food is what you should remember.
And how does Executive Chef Luciano Sautto make the food so memorable?
We use the best pasta in Italy, our tomato sauce is from the south of Italy, and our Parmesan cheese is made using only Italian ingredients. We buy ingredients from the parts of Italy that are famous for those ingredients.
Speaking of food, what’s the most popular dish on the Quattro menu?
I can’t name just one—I have to name four. There’s the Parmigiana Di Melanzane In Forma, which is a baked eggplant layered with mozzarella and Parmesan; Ossobuco Alla Milanese; Vitello Tonnato Con Capperi, which has thin slices of veal, capers, and tuna from the Italian island of Favignana; and the Preparazione Casalinga Dei Ravioli Di Casa Savoia Tartufati, which is ravioli stuffed with fontina and taleggio, and drizzled with white truffle oil. They’ve been on the menu as signature dishes for the past 12 years. I think we make it better here than you’ll find in Italy. Those four dishes are things people remember.
According to your expertise, what’s the secret to good Italian cooking?
If you put too many ingredients in an Italian dish, you ruin it. You just need fresh ingredients and simple recipes.
Why is Italian food so popular?
There’s a variety of everything, and it can be healthy or not healthy. It’s up to you! I think simplicity is the key to its success; you can eat Italian everyday because it’s simple.
Why is Lincoln Road the perfect location for Quattro Miami?
There’s a European style over here and I like that. It’s the only part of Miami where people walk and enjoy the city, the weather, and the stores; that’s what I love about it. It matches the style of our restaurant.
Here in Miami, so many restaurants come and go. Why do you think Quattro has been able to stick around for so long?
In Miami, people are always looking for something new and different. In Europe, restaurants will be open for 100 years, and they’re known for doing what they do best. So we have to continue to do what we do best. It’s good to try new things, but at the end of the day, there’s a history behind the Italian tradition. Eating should be a genuine, simple thing, and your menu should always be based on what you’re good at. Food should be simple. Even when guests read the menu, they shouldn’t’ be intimidated. If someone is doing something for 100 years, it’s because they’re doing it right. Why should we want to change that? Some people tell us we are too Italian—we take it as a compliment. We want to be too Italian.
Happy dining!

Every Friday, guests can enjoy a nice glass of scotch during Sardinia Enoteca Ristorante‘s beat-the-clock happy hour! The deal runs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., and the price of the scotch is priced according to the time you place the order. (For example, if you order it at 6 p.m., it costs $6; if you order it at 7 p.m., it costs $7; etc.) The types of scotch on tap include: JW Black, Dewars 12, Buchanan 12, and Chivas.
Weekend Champagne Brunch
Every Saturday and Sunday, from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., don’t miss the Champagne Brunch. Pair is all with $50 bottles of Veuve Clicquot Brut, $85 bottles of Veuve Clicquot Rosé, or $6 mimosas and Bloody Marys.
