2017 is finally here! And while we all celebrated on December 31, Hakkasan {4441 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach; 786.276.1388} is giving us a chance to celebrate another New Year over the next couple months: the Chinese New Year, the Year of the Rooster.
In true Fontainebleau fashion, there’s even a special menu for it, too; one filled with festive Chinese dishes and creative drinks. Available from January 13 to February 11, 2017, ring in your (second) New Year of 2017 with Fortune Tale with Crispy Chicken, a Chinese prosperity dish that’s prepared tableside and made with roasted chicken, jellyfish, and mooli. It is typically served at the beginning of a Chinese New Year feast to bring prosperity and fortune to those who eat it. Also on the menu? Hakkasan Miami’s famous steamed Dim Sum platter, Steamed Dover Sole, stir-fried tiger prawns with lemongrass and chili, braised abalone with fat choy and dried oysters, braised Chinese vegetables in bean curd skin, and golden fried rice with salted egg. To end the celebration on a sweet note, finish the feast with The Golden Feather, a ginger panna cotta dessert with mandarin and caramelized white chocolate.
And in the spirit of celebrating, two specialty cocktails will be available with the menu, too. The first is the Waltzing Collins, which is made with Asian spirits like Unaged Baijiu and Honjozo Sake, Chinese New Year fruits, and juices like mandarin, lemon, and grenadine, the latter of which symbolizes luck for the New Year. A non-alcoholic version, Waltzing Temple, will also be on the menu; it’s a mix of chopped cucumbers, lemon juice, grenadine, and mandarin juice. Both cocktails will be garnished with a striking golden rooster, a symbol of the Chinese zodiac and of course, the Year of the Rooster.
Adding to the theme, Hakkasan will play host to other Chinese traditions, as well. Guests of the restaurant will be able to participate in the Chinese wishing tree tradition, where they can write wishes on red and gold ribbons and hang them on the restaurant’s iconic lattice cages. Additionally, on Saturday, January 28 at 8:45 p.m., guests of the hotel will be able to witness a Chinese lion dance, where a lion troupe will make their way through the Fontainebleau offering symbolic expressions of luck, fortune, wisdom, and joy.
This special menu is priced at $128 per person, excluding beverages.
