Named after a shape-shifting Japanese talisman said to bring good luck, you’ll find nothing but good at Tanuki {1080 Alton Road, Miami Beach; 305.615.1055}, the South Beach outpost of a Pan-Asian chain. The first Tanuki in the U.S., head to this Alton Road spot for tasty sushi rolls, robata meats, Peking duck, dim sum, brunch, creative cocktails, and more. On weekdays, head there from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. for happy hour, where you’ll get $10 signature cocktails, $6 well drinks, $6 wines by the glass, $5 sake, $4 beer, and appetizers starting at $6.
Artisan Beach House
“Spring forward” or not, you should always visit The Ritz-Carlton Bal Harbour, Miami. At the oceanfront Artisan Beach House {10295 Collins Avenue, Bal Harbor; 305.455.5460}, you can get happy hour everyday from from 4 to 7 p.m.—so pair your beautiful Bal Harbour views with $6 bar bites, $10 well drinks, $5 draft and bottle beers, and $8 wines by the glass.
Cantina La Veinte
At Cantina La Veinte {495 Brickell Avenue, Brickell; 786.623.6135}, Brickell’s haute Mexican restaurant, decadence is an understatement. Every Monday through Friday, from 4 to 7 p.m., snag a seat on Biscayne Bay, and get a taste of that decadence at a discount. (Select drinks are half-price!)
Boulud Sud Miami
Chef Daniel Boulud brought his NYC-based Boulud Sud {255 Biscayne Boulevard Way, Downtown Miami; 305.421.8800} to Downtown Miami, and Magic City diners are so glad he did. Drawing inspiration from the Coastal Mediterranean, the menu at this upscale spot fuses flavors from France’s Côte d’Azur, Spain, Italy, Greece, Morocco, Tunisia, Lebanon, Israel, and even Turkey. Hit the restaurant’s bar and lounge any day of the week, from 5 to 8 p.m., and take advantage of its happy hour specials: $8 wines by the glass, $9 signature craft cocktails, $6 frosé, and $5 bar bites from Executive Chef Clark Bowen.
Tacology
Hovering over Brickell City Center from the top floor, Tacology {701 South Miami Avenue, Brickell; 786.347.5368} is a mercado-style restaurant with some of the trendiest tacos and margaritas in town. Go between 5 and 7 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and you can sip on some of its most popular drinks at half price.
Wolfgang’s Steakhouse
Wolfgang’s Steakhouse {315 South Biscayne Boulevard, Downtown Miami; 305.487.7130} keeps its happy hour under wraps, but the real locals know that it’s one worth searching for. Overlooking Biscayne Bay from its spot on Biscayne Boulevard, this Downtown Miami steakhouse has happy hour every night of the week, from 4 to 7 p.m. each weekday, and 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Here, you’ll get $5 beers, $10 glasses of champagne, $8 wines by the glass, $9 well drinks and specialty cocktails, and a slew of $8 appetizers: like Steak Sliders, Burger Sliders, Baked Clams Oreganata, and Chorizo al Vino.
Joe’s Stone Crab
Joe’s Stone Crab {11 Washington Avenue, Miami Beach; 305.673.0365} is a Miami Beach icon, and every Thursday and Friday, you can get a taste of it during “Cocktail Hour.” Go between 4 and 6:30 p.m., and you’ll get half-off beer and wine by the glass, and bites like Prime Rib Tacos, West Coast Oysters, and Popcorn Shrimp for $10 or less.
The Strand Bar & Grill
Sitting on the water at the recently-revamped Carillon Miami Wellness Resort, The Strand Bar & Grill {6801 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach; 305.514.7474} serves a seasonal, ingredient-driven menu of new American fare and creative cocktails. Go during happy hour, and you’ll get $4 beers, $6 wines, and $7 cocktails. The best part? That happy hour is every single day, even on weekends.
Hosteria Romana
Feel like a trip around the world? Hop on over to Hosteria Romana {429 Espanola Way, Miami Beach; 305.532.4299}, on the European-inspired Española Way, and you’ll feel like you’re eating on a streetside café in the heart of Italy. As if that isn’t idyllic enough, go during happy hour and “it’s amore,” indeed. Every Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m., you can get beer and wine for $5; mojitos, margaritas, and sangria for $7.50, and appetizers for $9. Stay after happy hour, until 8:30 p.m., and you’ll get live opera, too.
