There’s something intoxicating about black truffles. They grow on the root systems of specific kinds of trees in Périgord, in the southwestern Dordogne region of France, which already makes them feel like a delicacy. They have a rich flavor, one that somehow combines the taste of mushrooms, butter, and even a hint of garlic. Their aroma is alluring, and every time you smell it coming out of a kitchen, you know you’re in for a treat. Perfect on eggs, in oil, and shaved on top of your pasta, truffles make anything indulgent. And when it comes to what we eat, why
wouldn’t we want to let ourselves indulge?
And at Scarpetta by Scott Conant {4441 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach; 877.326.7412}, you can do just that. To celebrate black truffle season, this award-winning Italian restaurant from star chef Scott Conant is offering a special chef’s tasting menu centered around the popular “black diamond.” This prix-fixe dinner is priced at just $125 per person—a small price to pay for a Fontainebleau-level dinner you won’t be able to stop dreaming about.
Here’s what truffle lovers can expect to see on Scarpetta’s truffle-centric, five-course tasting menu:
CANAPÉ
Duck Egg with leek, duck prosciutto, and crackling
ANTIPASTI
Scallops with celery root, pickled pear, and chicken jus
PRIMI PIATTI
Tagliatelle with Parmesan and truffle zabaione
SECOND PIATTI
Filet of Beef with whipped potatoes, spinach, and foie gras sauce
DOLCE
Truffle with chestnut, dark chocolate, and brown butter
An optional wine pairing will be available for $95 per person. All wines will be selected by the restaurant’s sommelier. This dinner is available nightly, starting at 6 p.m.
Happy dining!
